LPN-RN BRIDGE REQUIREMENTS

Associate of Applied Science in Nursing

Trinity College of Nursing considers applicants for admission on the basis of the following criteria:

 Be 18 years old at time of enrollment.

1. Submit a completed online application along with the $55.00 non-refundable application All requested documents must be uploaded to your application to be reviewed. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. Your application must include submission of the following documents:

2. Unofficial Transcript(s) from LPN school and other secondary All official copies must be sent directly to the school electronically to: [email protected] or via mail. All official transcripts must be sent directly from the institution.

*A copy of your current, active, unencumbered Tennessee or compact LPN

Two forms of identification:

1. Driver’s license or passport

2. Social Security card

3. Verification from employer(s) attesting to at least 6 months of PT/FT employment. Must be sent directly from human resources on our form.

4. A copy of your American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider CPR card (must be valid for the duration of the program).

5. Two professional references: one educational and one from your employer, specifically (an RN) who can attest to your character and skills.

6. Attend an online information session via Sign up on our website.

7. Completion of all prerequisite courses prior to entrance. The prerequisite courses are: English 1 and 2, Intro to Statistics or College Math, Psychology, Microbiology*, Anatomy & Physiology 1 and 2*.

*All science courses must have been completed within 5 years or less of application, with an earned grade of B or The cumulative prerequisite science GPA must be 3.0 or higher.

8. Proof a nutrition course was taken during your LPN If you did not take a nutrition course during your LPN education you will have to take our refresher nutrition course the prior to being admitted. You can also take the nutrition course at another institution.

9. A score of 74% or higher on the NLN Foundations of Nursing NACE-1

10. Complete admissions interview and virtual tour.

11. Successfully complete and pass all compliance requests which include the following:

  • Any negative findings from your DISA background screening requires Director approval and does not guarantee licensure approval by the board of nursing.

 12. Submit an essay answering all of the following questions:

  • Why do you want to be an RN?
  • Why is now a good time to pursue your education?
  • What does nursing mean to you?
  • What does professionalism mean to you?
  • What does caring mean to you?
  • Describe a time when you were ethically and/or morally challenged as a nurse? How did you handle it?

After acceptance into the program, the student must complete the following:

 1. Provide immunizations which include: 2-step PPD within 1 year of start date or initial 2 step with documented proof of annual 1-step PPD or chest x-ray prior to one year of start date. QuantiFERON Gold titer is also acceptable.  MMR, Varicella, Hep B series or waiver, Tetanus and/or titers verifying immunity, and the flu vaccination. All records must be submitted to DISA within 4 weeks of start date. The school does not require the covid-19 vaccination. Other vaccinations may be requested by the clinical site.

2. Complete a financial appointment which includes reviewing and signing an enrollment agreement.

3. Attend the mandatory orientation session prior to starting the semester.

4. Pay the non-refundable registration fee of $100.00, and $160.00 for the criminal background check, drug screening, and compliance tracking.

5. If a prospective student violates the student code of conduct at any time during the admissions/ enrollment process, the Director has the right to refuse admissions.

No late admissions to the program will be permitted.

The NACE 1 entrance exam re-test requirements are as follows:

  • After a first attempt, an applicant may re-test after 6 weeks.
  • You can only test 3 times per year. Each test must be at least 6 weeks apart.

Additional Admission Requirements

In addition to the general admission requirements stated above, the following program entrance requirements must also be met:

  • Applicants must pass a 10-panel drug screen.
  • Must provide health form, proof of immunizations, Hepatitis B vaccinations or waiver, and 2-step PPD, within the first 14 days of class.
  • Applicants must successfully pass a criminal background check.

Upon acceptance a seat deposit of $3500.00 will be required.
